Dedication of the Loop Synagogue, gift of the Midwest Branch, United Synagogue of America, to the local Jewish community, took place on Sunday, at 6 North Clark Street. The synagogue will serve those men who find it difficult to attend synagogues in their respective residential neighborhoods because of their daily business routine. Services will be conducted in the morning, late afternoon and evening.
Among the speakers were Charles Oliff, President of the Midwest Branch of the United Synagogue; Judge Harry M. Fisher, Rabbi A. L. Lassen, Max Shulman, President of the Zionist Organization of Chicago; Dr. Joseph H.Margolies, President of the Council of Conservative Rabbis of Chicago; Mrs. Benjamin Davis, President of the Midwest Branch Women’s League. The invocation was offered by Rabbi Max Kadushin and the benediction by Rabbi Morris Teller.
Edward Steinberg, Chairman of the Architectural and Construction Committee of the Loop Synagogue, voluntarily rendered his services in designing and constructing the synagogue.
The lighting fixtures, of bronze and glass, specially designed for the synagogue, were contributed by William Markoff, a member of the Chicago Advisory Board of the United Synagogue. A supply of prayer books was donated by A. Z. Halpern of Chicago.
