Welcoming the election of Dr. Cyrus Adler as President of the American Jewish Committee, the “Jewish Morning Journal says editorially:

“Dr. Adler is a man of extraordinary energy and versatility. An able organizer and leader in circles of Jewish scholarship, he was the first vice-president and chairman of the Executive Committee of the American Jewish Committee and his election as the successor of Louis Marshall was natural. We congratulate him on the honor, which he merited.”

“Wherefore two Committees?” asks “The Day” in its issue of today. “Wherefore two institutions with the same goal. Would it not be better for American Jewry as well as world Jewry if the two institutions were united and had one leadership? Everyone who has known Louis Marshall knows how highly he appreciated Jewish unity and will admit that the uniting of the Congress and the Committee would be entirely in keeping with his spirit and in accord with his opinions.”
