There are two Jews in the new Herriot Government, M. Leon Meyer, who is re-appointed to his old office as Minister of the Mercantile Fleet, and Senator Alexandre Israel, who has been appointed Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister’s office.

The new Ministry includes four prominent Pro-Zionists, M. Justin Godart, the President of the French Pro-Palestine Committee, Senator de Monzie, M. Paul Painleve, and the Negro Deputy, M. Candace, who have all frequently addressed Zionist meetings and declared themselves strongly in support of the Jewish work in Palestine.
