In view of the periodically recurring disturbances in Poland perhaps the only recourse which the Jews have is to organize self defense units, declares Dr. Josiah Thon, president of the Club of Jewish Deputies of the Polish Sejm, in an article which appears in the Warsaw “Hajnt” today.

This, the Jewish Parliamentarian declares, despite the fact that experience has shown that the Jewish self-defenders, not the Jew-baiters are punished by the authorities.

Dr. Thon charges that the Polish authorities and leaders of the nation displayed an incomprehensible gentleness during the excesses which began on November 26th toward attackers of the Jews and anti-Semitic leaders at a time when strong-handed action was required.

He describes the sorrow of the Jewish population over the recurrent disturbances. It has become almost second nature for the Jews to be made scape-goats in the fights between the opposition and the government, Dr. Thon asserts.
