Nathan Eckstein, Seattle Jewish leader; Rabbi Samuel Koch of Temple de Hirsch and Mrs. Milton Weil, prominent Seattle Jewish clubwoman and veteran Community Fund worker, were re-elected as directors of the Seattle Community Fund at the Fund’s annual banquet. There are twelve directors of the fund, of which Alfred Shemanski, Seattle Jewish civic and communal leader, is president.

took the law into their own hands. That had to stop. In Hungary Jews were considered as citizens equal with all others, and that is how they are again being considered now. The present Government is determined to guarantee equality to all inhabitants of the country, irrespective of race or religion.

At the same time, Count Apponyi allowed himself to warn the Jewish press: I know the Jewish press is not friendly towards Hungary, he said, but I feel that it would be a grave mistake and might cause a serious revival of anti-Semitism in Hungary if Jewish public opinion tried to interfere with Hungary obtaining her loan. Foreign Jewry should be careful not to give a pretext to the Hungarian anti-Semites to incite the Hungarian public.
