A national religious recovery drive has been launched by the Union of Orthodox Congregations to strengthen the financial structure of the more than 2,300 orthodox Jewish congregations in the United States, Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein, honorary president of the Union, announced.

According to the plan, a national committee of 1,000 lay and rabbinical leaders will conduct the campaign, which calls for a per capita tax of one dollar on every member of orthodox congregations.

Interest in the campaign has already been expressed by religious leaders all over the country and plans are under way for a national conference to further the work.
