Dr. Arthur Ruppin and Moshe Shertok, members of the Jerusalem executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, cofered here with Treasury officials regarding the proposal recently advanced for an income tax in Palestine.
It is understood that the negative attitude of the Jewish Agency towards an income tax levy, as outlined a year ago by the late Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, then head of the political department of the Jewish Agency, remains unchanged.
The question of an income tax for Palestine, which has deeply agitated commercial and industrial circles of the country, is now in the hands of a commission appointed by the Palestine administration.
