“Hundreds of Italian women, posing in Palestine as nuns, teachers, nurses and members of medical missions, are carrying on a secret propaganda campaign against Britain and British rule in Palestine,” the London Daily Sketch reports.

“They come into contact with thousands of poor Arab people. They tell them that their poverty is due entirely to mismanagement of the country by the British,” the paper says. “Italian propaganda in Palestine has been of amazing intensity since the Abyssinian war. Thousands of pounds have been spent in bringing students to Italy. Filling them with propaganda, parading Fascist troops before them, pointing out what a very nice country Italy is and how much better it would be for Palestine to be ruled by them instead of Britain.”
