What the authorities said today was the most serious attack on Israeli forces in the occupied areas since the end of the June war occurred last night in Nablus when an Arab terrorist band ambushed a patrol of two jeeps of border police on duty in Nablus after the extended curfew on that town was in force.
The terrorists threw hand-grenades and opened fire on the police with sub-machine-gun, injuring one Israeli border patrolman. The police returned the fire. In the town of El Arish in the Sinai Peninsula, security forces yesterday arrested 16 Arab youths on charges in connection with the murder of Daniel Abbelou, 16, a Belgian-Jewish volunteer, last month. Abbelou disappeared while on a visit to El Arish. His body was found in the dunes on September 17.
