The role of the Jewish Brigade, which
fought in Italy during World War II, was commemorated for the first time as part of an annual march through Rome. The event, held each April 25, celebrates Italy’s liberation from German occupation in 1945. Among many delegations of Italian Resistance veterans, a banner carried Wednesday by members and leaders of the Jewish community reminded Romans of the 5,000 Jews who fought in the
British army’s Jewish Brigade.
